The second edition of the Sheth-Gomes Essay Invitational as always was held on the last Saturday of November 2023. Sponsored by the Kulkarni Family Foundation set up by former Campionites Anirudh and Abhijit Kulkarni, the SGEI was a massive success.
Actor, writer, photographer and singer Boman Irani was the Chief Guest. 30 schools from the state of Maharashtra invited by Campion sent their students to participate.
The engaging banter between Rajdeep and Boman threw immense insight into the writing process, especially in terms of what the latter looks for when judging a script before he commits to a script.
The topic was 'Social media is our biggest asset as well as our worst enemy'. And the winner declared was Arnav Asher.
The jury chaired by Rajdeep Sardesai with author, Ashwin Sanghi and director/writer, Tahira Kashyap-Khurana, declared that the winning essay had incredible nuance and maturity. They couldn’t believe that it was a 15 year old mind that had come up with those words and marked him for success in his writing endeavours.
